Obsolete skill set

Venison chili on the hoof

Venison chili on the hoof

So I can go into the woods alone with bow, shoot a deer, field dress it, drag it out, hang it, skin it and butcher it, all by myself  – at the end of the day, I have some venison, and that’s a great skill to know when the end of the world arrives, but until then, I’d have been better off learning to be a banker, or even a successful real estate agent.

I whined to my kids today that I was born 150 years too late.
