Obama on stay-at-home moms: we don’t want them

He’s certainly done his best to ensure that result by making it nearly impossible for single-income families to get by, but for O and his liberates, that’s not a bug, it’s a feature.

During a speech in Rhode Island today, President Obama called for more taxpayer-spending on pre-school in order to “make sure that women are full and equal participants in our economy” and said the following:

Sometimes, someone, usually mom, leaves the workplace to stay home with the kids, which then leaves her earning a lower wage for the rest of her life as a result. And that’s not a choice we want Americans to make.

Only in Obama Land is the choice of one parent to stay at home and raise the children considered a negative thing; The “progressive” vision is a world where children are placed in state-run day care centers to be raised by federal employees, while the parents both go to exciting jobs in cubicles so they can pay more in taxes and keep the government growing.

So when Obama says of stay-at-home parents,”that’s not a choice we want them to make”, it would be a mistake to think he doesn’t mean it.

"Typical British Family"

“Typical British Family”

RELATED: Leftists in Britain spent £100,000 of taxpayer funds on statue of “Typical British Family “: Two women walking with their children, one pregnant with another, and no fathers. Daily Mail columnist Amanda Platell is not amused, and she gets it exactly right:

So why does the Left put single mums on a pedestal — literally?

It is perhaps because they can control them by keeping them dependent on the State for survival.

A single mum is far more likely to rely on benefits and is thus beholden to the State for her income and well-being.

At election time, few who are dependent on welfare are likely to vote for a Conservative party that has vowed to clamp down on benefits culture and champion the traditional family.

And so the Left’s client-state survives and thrives, perpetuating a cycle of dependency through successive generations, almost invariably squashing aspiration, endeavour and self-reliance in its path.

Research consistently shows that children raised in a home without a father figure present are more likely to suffer poor health, do badly at school and fall into crime or drug abuse when they are teenagers.

I hardly think that’s something to be celebrated with a statue.

Leftists are repulsed by the idea of moms and dads raising their own children. What is most frightening to them is the prospect of the youth being taught values contrary to “progressive” weltanschauung. As any good totalitarian would say, the sooner you can hand off your progeny to the state-run institutions, the sooner the indoctrination can begin.

Which dovetails nicely with the missives (yes that is plural on purpose) I’ve received from Party HQ in the last two days. Straight out of the Stasi playbook, fellas. Well done! I cannot think of a better way to get people to vote for your opponents.

It takes a village. This is the face of the enemy — empathetic: they understand your needs. Don’t be lulled to sleep by their hypnotherapeutic manner of speaking or the harmless, dumb-as-shit look on their face. These people are not your friends.

Ah, those were the days when you could open a family sitcom with its star enjoying the sponsoring brand’s cigarette. How things have changed: we’ve gone from Father Knows Best to Der Führer Knows Best with the Chosen One embracing us once again with another of his Kumbaya moments. This one leading this time to the death of nine American Children and the Polio like paralysis of another fifty that were caused by Enterovirus D68 and are the direct result of Obama’s open border policy as brought forward in a Drudge linked DC Caller article.

What I’d like to know is can the government be held liable and the Idiot in Chief be held personally liable for the deaths and paralyses that are a direct result of a complete and open violation of US law? Kumbaya, Barack. Ask the parents of these nine dead children if it was worth it!

You don’t think this should be celebrate with a statue? Why not? Success is always worthy of celebration; you’re just measuring with a different ruler. Try the collectivist’s yard stick and you’ll see it’s a nice fit.

Middle class wages have been stagnant or in decline for 40 years, while cost of living has skyrocketed, forcing women into the workplace. For most women, that’s not a choice, it’s a necessity. That’s what made it largely impossible for single income families to get by, not Obama policies, If government is to blame, it is refusing to put its thumb on the scale of working families, and pass the sort of civlized social support systems present in most industrialized countries, such as paid family leave, sick leave policies, and the like. Companies should be mandated to pay living wages to their employees, and stop outsourcing jobs to foreign countries, and live up to their commitments as good corporate citizens, instead of acting like greedy robber barons immiserating the middle class.

They tried that and it doesn’t work not to mention being flawed on so many levels. What progressives and liberals don’t understand is that the wealthy will always be wealthy. You can tax them, penalize them, force the failure of others on them and they will ALWAYS come out on top. They are wealthy for a reason. Socialism will only make the poor poorer and the rich more powerful.

We just cannot turn into the Soviet Union redux fast enough for people like $$Bill.

That it failed miserably there is a plus for them.

Crony Capitalism is no better than Socialism. Ebola does not discriminate. All the money in the world can not protect from anyone from anything if the shite hits the fan.

You don’t trust corporations… but you trust the political machine of government?

What’s more dangerous — lust for money… or lust for power?

If you don’t know the answer to that question, consider why a reported 150,000,000 innocents in the USSR and its “satellite sympathizers” were starved and/or slaughtered in the name of “breaking eggs to make an omelet” (as Lenin is rumoured to have said). Over the course of a century that’s an average of 40,000 executions per week.

I don’t personally know anyone who truly likes the idea of outsourcing jobs to foreign countries. However, for example, iphones would retail at over $5000 a piece if they were manufactured in Taiwan instead of the US. Why? Because labor here is expensive — and growing more expensive with every new regulation, EPA mandate, and corporate tax hike imposed. Ultimately, it’s the consumer who carries the burden. Maybe we will bring production back to the continental US once robots monopolize the low-skill labor sector. Which would cut domestic jobs even further. I’d give it another five years.

Sounds like you advocate a closed economy. See Russia pre oil, all the east block under the iron curtain, see Cuba and see select industries in south America such as electronics. Countries which close their trade borders fair worse.

Meanwhile, it wouldn’t surprise me if a tour of your annual personal spending was a tour de force of international products. Tell me about your Chevy or Ford? About your vizeo tv? About buying America sourced fish (anything inexpensive at the first counter is foreign. Any work around the house? American lumber? GE or whirlpool appliances? Etc
