Gave proof through the night that our planes weren’t still there

We recently mentioned, thanks to a reader, that Greenwich residents own an incredibly high number of planes. Sales were robust as late as last summer but I posted an article then that predicted that prices would soon start falling from the sky. Now they have, and used planes are a glut on the market (Bernie Madoff’s boys kept their dad’s jet for awhile even though all other assets had been frozen but that was presumably so that they could get out of the country with hot cash – they needed that plane, man!). Unfortunately, that glut is only growing larger, thanks in part to the efforts of men like this guy, an airplane repo man. He almost always gets his plane, even if the owner flies it out of Westchester Airport and tries hiding it in Arkansas.

Some interesting folks register planes in Greenwich at Westchester Airport.

Just ask Michael Michl of Mastercard (see top left photo) who has a plane.
    Work for Mastercard: priceless.

He gave Chris Dodd $1000 to run for President. Brains: none.

He lives at the corner of Pecksland & 121 Riversville Road.

Private planes (esp G550 or 7X-caliber) reveal much…and plane nuts closely examine tail nos. of big birds at Westchester/Teterboro or SFO/SanJose to guess owners…much like car nuts see a new Mercedes CL65 or Ferrari 599 and guess owners at office parking garages or in front of powerful restaurants

Planes reveal affluence of a region; specific model of planes is often insightful (G550 or 7X is more akin to a new, bespoke $30+MM house on Belle Haven waterfront or a new Mercedes CL65 vs just any old Greenwich house or Mercedes); who’s paying for plane (public company shareholders or private individual)…and frequent use of private planes for wkend pleasure travels often reveals a hedgie or public co. CEO who’s perhaps not as business-focused as claimed…useful data for any investor to consider

  3. Farwell Perry & Peter Tesei

Yes, “Fuzzy” Farwell Perry, now about 89, has a plane. And read this 1989 article about the land he sold and developed in northwest Greenwich. Yes, our selectman was a part of the deal (Peter Tesei). He lead a syndicate of investor with Partridge Hollow Associates. Small world.

  4. Thomas C. Foley of 62 Khakum Wood

This Greenwich resident also likes to fly. He is a Bush Patriot donor with a mixed past.

Maybe he will teach his 16 year son to fly.

  5. Even Tudor Investment Pilots do not live shabby

Check out Daniel J. Fennessey. He lives at 21 Pecksland and is a pilot for hedge fund Tudor Investments. Where can I get that job and that address to live in. Th high flying world of hedge funds. Will this world ever come crashing to Earth?

Thats nothing. Mr. Perry had a private airstrip on his own property.
