Little Rock school district will require teachers to wear underwear in class.

The school district in Little Rock, Ark. has announced plans for a dress code that will require teachers to wear underwear. Every single day. Female teachers will have to wear bras, too.

T-shirts, patches and other clothing containing slogans for beer, alcohol, drugs, gangs or sex will also be prohibited. Other verboten garments will include cut-off jeans with ragged edges, cut-out dresses and spaghetti-straps if teachers aren’t wearing at least two layers.

keep-calm-and-date-a-tattooed-teacherFlip-flops will be banned. “Tattoos must be covered if at all possible.” No jogging suits, either (though gym and dance teachers do get a pass on this one).

And the very worst of all: No spandex.

Organized labor vocally opposes the new universal underwear requirement and the rest of the non-draconian dress code.

In 2012, teachers in the beachside hamlet of Hampton, N.H. called an attempt to prevent teachers from wearing jeans, tank-tops and flip-flops “derogatory and condescending.”

This year, in Lewis County, W. Va., teachers pitched a fit because the local board of education  voted to prohibit them from wearing blue jeans, faded jeans and shorts to work.

“How can we get those hot little 9th graders into our pants if we’ve got panties underneath?”, moaned one teacher. It’s a poser.

Stop by GHS early some morning when the teachers are rolling in. Janitor is the best dressed on the staff.

Mandatory underwear and no spandex? Fascists!

I would have assumed those sorts of requirements had been in place for years, although they shouldn’t be necessary in the first place.
It may be acceptable for Michelle Obama, but teachers shouldn’t be dressed like slobs.

Speaking of rotten fish, what ever happened to WMS/EMS crazed teacher Stacey Goodnow? Forced retirement? Do her 2 children still go to Greenwich schools when she lives in Norwalk?

        • For readers unfamiliar with Miss Goodnow, her brief criminal bio is here.. Drunken brawl in Norwalk in 2010, transfer from Eastern Middle School to Western, drunken threats made to boyfriend, 2013, placed on administrative leave (full pay). I assume that, after a summer spent at rehab, she’s back teaching our students – perhaps as John Yoon’s assistant? – but it’s also possible, I suppose, that the school system found a way to keep her out of the classroom.

On a somewhat related note, have you seen this? There have also been letters to the editor both about the (alleged) lack of follow-through by GHS admin on bullying complaints, and injures Bart Palosz suffered on his last day at Western Middle – according to the letter writer, he’d had his head slammed into a locker, without apparent consequences to the dirtbag responsible. Please, just give me another reason to send my kids to private school.

“Town legal department”???? Who/what attnys make up the dept? How many attnys are in this department and what type of attnys are they?

      • CatoRenasci

The town has a part-time Town Counsel – John Wayne Fox, known in the trade as Wayne – and three or four other lawyers on sinecure.

Fox is a municipal lawyer – that is, he specializes in the law governing towns and cities – and is an active Democrat in the rest of his life. He is certainly better than what we had before he was hired.

The others are all very nice, but none of them are in danger of being hired away by a major New York (or Stamford or Greenwich, for that matter) law firm.

On second thought, of course it’s been turned over to the town legal dept. The family is getting ready to sue the town and they have to start getting their ducks in a row to cover their tracks.

Bullying is a serious problem and I sure hope the school was not indifferent and apathetic to the situation and blowing off the parents each time they came for help. If so, the Town is going to the cleaners when they file their lawsuit. And, I believe its when, not if, they file a lawsuit.

That is true… Poor kid – apparently it had been going on for a very long time.

    Dude –
I think this is an OUTRAGE!! Why can’t a teacher go commando if she wants to? Depending on weight of course. This is America, not Communist Japan!!
If a teacher wants to allow her panty hamster to breathe, who are we to say no? Plus it will probably improve attendance, and improve student concentration. And… AND it will improve student blood flow, which is good for their circulation.
And requiring a bra? Suppose she is cursed, and doesn’t have a set of jigglers? This will cause her low self esteem, which she may pass on to the kids. If a teacher wants to allow the sweater puppies to run loose, who are we to say no? Plus she can use them to teach the kids about gravity.

No wonder it’s so hard to find good teachers these days.
    Your Pal,
    Walt
