Keep up the heat – and look who’s got the home address of Cyndee Royle, editor of the Journal-News?

Reader “Jeff” sends along a link to the latest article in the White Plains tabloid, Journal-News, reporting on the hornets nest occasioned by their publication of an interactive map showing the identity and address of all registered gun owners in Westchester County and surrounding areas.

Cyndee Royle

Cyndee Royle in better days, long ago and far way

Editor Cyndee Royle defends her decision and in fact sounds quite smug about it. Her paper is apparently still trying to obtain, and publish, information on how many guns, and their type, are registered to each owner, presumably to make shopping easier for gun thieves. Nothing more disappointing than getting a Remington 870 when you’ve been hoping for a Ruger Mini Thirty.

Let’s keep those cards and letters (and telephone calls, of course) coming.

Miss Royle’s married name is Lambert. She lives in White Plains and here is her Facebook page complete with pictures of her and her kids. Hello Sanctimony.

    Figures she’d go by CynDee.

Cyn Dee appears to have taken down her Facebook page, and the link to the newspaper is password protected.

I wonder what would happen if you published a list of people’s pay-per-view habits. See who’s viewing gay porn!

OMG! That private and perfectly legal!

    So is gun ownership…

  5. Peg

Yes, I saw CyndDee’s Facebook page disappeared down the rabbit hole, also. When the tables are turned, I’m betting they aren’t too crazy about it.

  6. ML

This is the best post you have written that I have ever seen. I hope that they are nervous. Awesome!

  7. Just_looking

I would think that the neighbor of gun owners should be nervous, as their relative risk of targeting by criminals has gone up, assuming the criminals look at the map and chose to avoid the homes of gun owners as being too dangerous.

    • Or maybe thieves target a home to steal guns will figure that as long as in the neighborhood ….
Like flies to honey, or the Jos. A. Banks school of burglary: break into one, get three more free.

      • Westchesterer

All they have to do is drive around and match the map with an excess of newspapers on a driveway. I doubt that criminals are reading this blog for advise, but it truly is that simple.

        • So Tired of the Agenda

Westy – I am retired law enforcement with over twenty six years service. The criminals have an info network second to none. Ask any correction officer. Don’t sell the value of this irresponsibly published data short.

Look up “Lambert, Cynthia” in the court records. Five case came back. I don’t want to sign up to see the actual documents. But it looks like one is a case against her from some financial institution…

  17. It’s practically impossible to comment on the newspaper site. Anyone have success getting through? How’d you do it?

  18. DotsMom

This will backfire on this twit and she will, ironically, need to go and get a permit for a handgun. What an idiot. She stands by a decision that was born out of malicious and vindictive intent. Let me just say I am NOT a gun advocate but I support the right to obtain one legally. Good for you for making this public, though I do feel bad that SHE has dragged her innocent family into this fight. People are crazy out there, both sides have this needless stress now. Chris we always need someone like you who sticks up for the right thing.

  19. You do realize that by publishing these lists you are placing the gun owners neighbors lives at risk, right? If someone wants to invade a home in a gun owners neighborhood then they will look at your map and choose the home of someone not on list. Maybe the next victim will be you. Dumbasses.

  20. CarolLK

In the “old” days of journalism, the editorial staff would meet once a week for a weekly paper to discuss articles and assignments. Occasionally legal counsel was sought if there was a particularly contentious issue highlighted by the paper. Do editors not do that anymore? Maybe they feel they’re above the law. Well..we’ve got news — I was able to send the publisher a tweet before she locked her twitter account. Just reminded her to obtain the services of a good lawyer. She and her paper are going to get their asses sued first time there’s a robbery, burglary, home invasion….you get the point…from that list.

  24. looking closely

Personally, I don’t really care if anyone knows I have a concealed carry permit. The gun itself is concealed. Is it in my safe? Under my pillow? In my car? On my person? Go ahead. . .try and find it.

I live in Alaska. Up here we don’t really worry about the paper providing such a list. It would be useless information. If you are dumb enough to break into a house you probably have a 80% chance of the owner having multiple firearms (and we know how to use them). Getting shot by the owner or a neighbor greatly reduces burglary attempts.

    Keep the pressure up!

Has anybody checked the names of all the employees against the New York State Pistol Permit Database? Besides Dwight Worley there are bound to be a few more who belong to the Hypocrite Club.

Posted by Greg Ball on Wednesday, December 26th, 2012

Ball: “Asinine Journal News Editors treat sex offenders better than law abiding gun owners”

Brewster, N.Y. – 12/26/2012 – Today Senator Greg Ball (Patterson – R, C, I) called for the Journal News Newspaper, a Gannett Company, to immediately remove a map they have posted on their website that unethically reveals homeowners with pistol permits in Westchester, Rockland and Putnam Counties. The Journal News says that the information contained in the map was obtained by submitting Freedom of Information requests for the names and addresses of pistol permit holders by county. Senator Ball has now announced that he will introduce legislation in the New York State Senate, to prevent this from happening again.

“The asinine editors at the Journal News, have once again gone out of their way to place a virtual scarlet letter on law abiding firearm owners throughout the region. The immediate elimination of the information posted on the Journal News Website is the only way we can ensure the safety and liberty of these New Yorkers. This is clearly a violation of privacy, and needs to be corrected immediately. The same elitist egg heads who use their editorial page to coddle terrorists and criminals are now treating law abiding citizens like level three sexual predators. Am I surprised? No. Should every person with commonsense be offended? Yes. Furthermore, the Journal News has placed the lives of these folks at risk by creating a virtual shopping list for criminals and nut jobs,” said Ball. “Publishing this information on a website provides criminals with a map of where they can steal firearms from lawful owners for later use in the commission of crimes. Preventing the theft of guns and their criminal misuse is an important public-policy goal. This map is bad for the good guys and good for the bad guys.”

In the Assembly Ball multi-sponsored Assembly bill 820, legislation which would prohibit the public disclosure of information in an application for a pistol license with exceptions for prosecutors and police conducting an active investigation. Senator Ball will be introducing similar legislation, immediately. The bill would protect lawful gun owners from being targeted by thieves for firearm burglaries and eliminate a database criminals could use to extort their identity-theft victims.

For more information or to speak with Senator Ball, please contact Joe Bachmeier at (845) 200 9716.

  36. This is brilliant indeed; it’s about time the public gave the press a taste of their own medicine/poison. You don’t have to be a gun owner to know that what this CynDee Royal did was not only unethical, but illegal! If you allow her to get away with this, next thing you know she’ll be publishing the names of children with Autism. Enough is enough already, it’s time for We the People to protect Our God Given Rights and the US Constitution.

    • This needs to start happening everytime a “journalist” dares to attack a private citizen. The press is supposed to be protecting the American public from the government. Now they are working in concert. Caddell was right. The main stream media is the ENEMY of the American people.

I thought this was supposed to be a game of my-journalistic-ethics-are-better-than-yours. But now — –if, and only if, THAT is the correct name of this game– — you have undermined everything you have accomplished over the past 3 days via this one 8-word post up above. If I’m wrong about your ultimate intent with posting all these addresses of those horrible people at the Journal-News, then I’ll just shrug my shoulders and live and let live. But if I am right in what I thought your intent was, can I pretty-please suggest that you reconsider the above 8-word post? Thanks. Peace-out, dude.

If I was a NY resident, Ball would get my vote. Good on him.

Boy did this story go viral!

    • Well, it made it to Australia so yes it has made an impact… gutter journalism at it’s worst by the ethically challenged who will have no regard to any homicides as a result of this “story” other than another news item to profit from. My advice is don’t just cancel your subscription… also write to the papers advertisers letting them know why you no longer support their products!

  41. Jack

I’ve gained access to Cyndee Royale’s AmEx and Visa card histories. She bought two Ipads for Christmas, one Rolex, a set of Louis Vittan luggage, and gold and jewelry worth $12,500.00 in the past 3 months alone. Sounds like a place worth robbing to me.

  42. Occam's Tool

Liberal Journalists are the lowest form of life there is, except SOME (not all) child molesters. They are vermin. They deserve every bit of crap they are about to eat on this. Hopefully the paper goes out of business.

    • They are the underbelly of society. Shame on them. Ignorant, uninformed morons. They could care less about how their little article may impact innocent people. If I was on that list, I would contact everyone else on it, and go see an attorney. Maybe we can make an example out of them, so the other liberal main stream media would think twice before printing such an outrageous story. However, I think that;s just wishful thinking. It’s just sickening.

  43. Rob Zanussi, Red Deer, AB

I have no dog in this fight, but for all those who posted anonymously or under false names carry no credibility here. At least the editor of the paper had the “balls” to publish the list under her real name. Albeit her maiden name.
For all of those who posted under their real names, good on you!
Those who hide behind an alias, etc, shame on you

    • The editor had balls? And yet, Dwight Worley, the writer of this article (who owns a .357) thought he should be exempt from his little map. For all the “targets” he made out of law-abiding citizens, apparently he doesn’t feel he should be one. Look up his address on that map. You won’t find a dot for him. Ask yourself why. I don’t think the answer involves the possession of balls. In fact, I’m pretty sure it’s quite the opposite.

    • Carol Kemp

I am really am ashamed of you all, as adults and Americans! I’m pretty sure maybe your parents will/would be too! I realize that this information is public and can be requested, but why? To be the one who got the credit for being an instigator or a good reseaching reporter? To cause more seperation of the American people! Well, congratulations! I am reluctant and even embarrassed to think of you as “True Americans!” You all have opened another issue for us to be at odds with each other. Which is playing right into the hands of the rapidliy growing (in my opinion), soon to be socialist country! What kind of hatred are we showing our children? Also, do you people not take families and children in account! You all are no better than a mugger or a criminal! Do you now realize, that you may have very well put children in danger! Will you people stop at nothing? This country is becoming a real embarrassment and you all are out in front!!! Let’s not be adults, like we are raised to be, let’s complete your agenda no matter who we drag through the mud or no matter who gets hurt! Your embarressed and dissapointed fellow AMERICAN!

    • Rob Z, you are an idiot.

The ones who should be afraid are those who weren’t listed. The unarmed houses are the ones I would target.

  45. Mark Matis

Well done! Would it be worth noting that these are “gun free” zones, in case any criminals out there don’t want to get in trouble by taking weapons into these homes?

    2) You’re exposing NY citizens for a CT event perpetrated by a NJ resident.
    3) Yellow journalism at it’s worst.

  50. I am so glad that someone finally hit the media back where it hurts. Especially how much they have been hurting US. I found Royle’s article especially upsetting b/c she included NYC Police Officers in her publication. I find her actions not only appalling, but extremely unethical & dangerous; on a personal note, I have family that are/were NYC Police Officers and she listed them in her publication. I truly believe the only way people like her will ever learn the harm that they do (for the sake of sales & ideologies) to others, is to give them a dose of their own medicine. And that is all that was done here today, CynDee Royle & company got EXACTLY what they dished out. And for those of you who find this appalling, you are all hypocrites, It is/was NOT Cyndee Royle’s job to list the addresses of all legal, registered gun owners in several NY Counties; she did this to spread her own ideologies & for sales purposes only and it backfired on her. She put many lives in jeopardy, including the lives of children. Even if this wasn’t personal to me, I would still be fighting back just as hard as I am now. I am spreading the word on her unethical, appalling actions in hopes that people like her will get the message: go after the REAL CRIMINALS and publish their addresses. Be more concerned about America’s working class citizens, rather than trying to set them up for an attack or possible kill. Is Cyndee Royle to scared to publish the illegal drug runners, who possess illegal weapons addressees? Well, if she is, then she does not belong working with the public, let alone Publishing. Cyndee Royle abused her post and deserves to be fired at the very least.

  51. Chris

More journalism and good research done here tracking down the records of gun owning law abiding US citizens than was ever spent tracking down the President’s school records or birth certificate…. hows that work?

  52. Patriot

Remember everyone, this data base is of persons who hold a current concealed carry permit. It does not include people who own legal firearms but do not have permits. Cyndee was denied information on gun owners as it is against federal law to compile, store or list any information on individual gun owners as it is seen as a hindrance to our Second Amendment. It is a very good bet that many homes not listed in these areas have legal long guns or handguns that have not chosen to get a carry permit. Hopefully they will now.
