This is really worth emphasizing because it reveals the nature of the creature occupying the White House

AJ sends along the following:

‘Obama Administration Decided to Block Access to Memorials’

“The Obama Administration has decided to block access to public memorials on the National Mall as a result of the government shutdown. Like its decision to end White House tours when the sequester cuts took effect, there is no rational reason for this. The Park Police, nominally in charge of monitoring these spaces, isn’t even effected by the shutdown. Shutting off access to these sites is gratuitous and petulant.

On Monday, the first day of the government shutdown, a number of WWII veterans showed up at a memorial to their service to find that access had been blocked. The memorial is in a public space and is open 24/7, with almost no oversight from Park Police …”

Breitbart: The TMZ of the “political” blogs.

That being said, I don’t understand why the Park Service would place barriers on all the memorials. I walked through them at all hours without any participation of the Park Service …..

    • AJ

Because the little shit didn’t get his way and now you’re all going to have to suffer. It’s a pretty normal thing for two year olds to do.

      • Libertarian Advocate

AJ: As in it’s Barack’s version of wah, wah, wah!!!!! It’s my baseball. You’ve been mean to me. I’m taking it and going home, wah, wah wah!!!!!!?

    • The WH called and gave the Park Service the mandate to put blockades around all memorials in DC! The disgusting puke-in-chief gave the order because he’s rotten to the core when things don’t go his way!
He needs many years of “time out” in jail!

      • Libertarian Advocate

I’d settle for him taking asylum – with all his OFA residual funds – in Indonesia immediately just to get him the fuck out now. Not that the Indonesians want him back mind you.

  2. Daniel

You can go to many newspaper web sites and read about all the small businesses being hurt by the park closings. Max impact, don’t you know.

    • Demmerkrat Patriot

I agree with you … the businesses surrounding all the National Parks are directly affected by the shutdown of the Park Service.

  3. Demmerkrat Patriot

    And this one, too:
The KKK event at Gettysburg National Military Park was canceled due to the government stalemate.

Park officials said they rescinded all permits for special events because of the shutdown that began Tuesday.

The permit had been approved for a Maryland-based KKK group, the Confederate White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan, for a Saturday gathering.

I am of the understanding that the WWII memorial was funded 100% with private money – Speilberg, Hanks, etc. Therefore, it should not be allowed to be shut down.

    • Demmerkrat Patriot

Yes, but it is on the National Mall which is a national park. Several other memorials (Vietnam) are also located there.

  5. Cobra

Obozo wants this BS to unnecessarily hurt the public and to blame it all on the Republicans. What a vengeful, shallow lizard.

    • LMNOP

here’s an idea floated by Fox News Katie Pavlich. Classic.
Maybe if the WWII vets offer to hold Obama’s umbrella, they’ll open the memorial

Our House of Representatives brought 37 bills to the House floor to repeal or abolish the Affordable Care Act. None of them passed. The Supreme Court ruled the law constitutional. So, when the House of Representatives couldn’t repeal the ACA, they chose to cause economic havoc by tieing a repeal (or delay) to the funding of the rest of the US government.

The ACA is law … don’t have to like it, but it is the law of the land.

So explain to me how this isn’t the actions of a group of petulant juveniles?

      • Mama R

The ACA is a law that >50% of Americans DON’T want. Republicans have been introducing legislation to defund that at minimum should get discussed, because >50% of American DON’T LIKE the ACA. The Dems and Mr. Obama say they’ll sit and talk compromise but then don’t. Whose is not listening to the public and who is being juvenile??

      • Once

By the way Demmercrat Patriot, if there is such a thing, the immigration laws are law … don’t have to like it, but they too are the law of the land. I suppose not enforcing them, and actually encouraging the disregard for the law, is the action of a group of petulant juveniles.

I’m surprised that SWAT teams didn’t surround the veterans and arrest them — in their wheelchairs and all. There is no low that this Obama administration won’t stoop to. You notice that the president could have made himself available to honor these veterans who sacrificed so much to maintain our freedom, but of course he was a no show. His only contribution to the event was to have armed guards and barricades blocking their path.
Once again, our WWII veterans show why they are the greatest generation. They weren’t having any of this administration’s disrespectful B.S. These veterans have been forced to deal with dictators all their life and know how to do it.

    • Walt

      Dude –
This man is a disgrace. There is no reason to shut the National Parks and monuments other than spite. He wants to cause people pain, because he didn’t get his way and is now throwing a Nancy Boy hissy fit.

I heard the personal White House staff has been reduced from 90 to 15. Why does he need 90? They should leave it at 15. And the EPA is down 94%. GOOD!! Let’s use it as a reason to rightsize the government and trim the fat. And Congress getting paid is a disgrace.

Anyways, I wouldn’t put it above this guy to kill babies!! Did someone say dead babies?
What do you call a dead baby with no arms and no legs laying on a beach? Sandy!!
How are babies and the elderly alike? Both are fun to throw out of moving cars!!

Walt, you have to ask why hasn’t Putin and his cronies uttered a peep about the government shutdown? It’s because they approve of the methods being used by the mini-me in the Whitehouse.

    • Inagua

Walt – If you have never been to Montana, then get in your car and go to the Custer Battlefield. Breathtakingly beautiful. The foothills of the Rockies are some of the nicest real estate in America. And then swing by Yellowstone, if Obama will let you in. Seriuosly, Walt no American should die without seeing the West. Go West, Old Man.

      • Distressed

Did a big trip out West last year. Visited Yellowstone, Grand Teton, Grand Canyon, Moab, and Bryce. Absolutely stunning country out there.

  8. Cos Cobber

I have to laugh earlier this week when several national parks webcams i check out from time to time where shutdown, along with the entire national park service website. While the internet is littered with unmaintained websites, the WH decided – like a petulant child – the public needs a reminder about the budget battle. Ridiculous.

    • Toonces

We have a friend who runs the campgrounds in most of the National Parks. He’s been told to shut down, even though he pays rent to the federal government and all of he employees are privately hired. This president is despicable

    • Wow. Just when you think it’s not possible for Barry to get any more childish…

Is pathological immaturity grounds for impeachment?

  10. Yos

Our friend DP appears to be misusing the term “Patriot”.

In the American reference frame, patriotism as such means allegiance to the principles underlying the Constitution… Allegiance is enshrined in the Oath to uphold and to defend the Constitution from all enemies etc. etc.

This is distinguished from nationalism which is rather tribalistic; based more upon tangibles such as borders, language, visible genetic characteristics and the like. The Pledge of Allegiance is a classical (er, better: creepy) example of nationalism in that it makes no reference whatsoever to the principles that make-up American civil society.

There are a lot of erstwhile “patriots” out there that couldn’t give a rip for the Constitution – they just like America because it has the greatest freebies in all the “civilized” world.

Given the Progs stranglehold on der Demokrautz, isn’t it today paradoxical to be both a Democrat and a Patriot?

Hell, given the intellectual corruption of the Repubes, the same irony applies to them. Both Parties lean totalitarian-statist.

    • Demmerkrat Patriot

My choice of Nom De Plume has zero connection to any political party affiliation. I am an unaffiliated voter being disgusted with any and all “parties.” I kept the screen name as a part of the running joke of “demmerkrats” that pervaded some of the early posts (and posters) to this blog.

      The congressional oath:
I do solemnly swear (or affirm), that I will administer justice without respect to persons, and do equal right to the poor and to the rich, and that I will faithfully and impartially discharge and perform all the duties incumbent on me, according to the best of my abilities and understanding, agreeably to the Constitution, and laws of the United States.

That would include laws that you don’t like.

      • Obama has unlawfully used his executive power to order his DOJ not to enforce “the law of the land” on: marijuana, immigration and voter intimidation, and unilaterally change his own ObamaKare by personally, by wave of the royal hand, granting employers a one year stay in the requirement that they provide health insurance as of October 1st.

So you’re saying we should impeach Obama? I’m with you.

      • Yos

Thanks DP fer the splainin’. Sorry for not catching onto the joke. Cheers.

The upside to this whole thing is that, due to the shutdown, FLOTUS will be tweeting less. Apparently nobody told the twit that Twitter is free.

‘‘Less Tweets Due to Shutdown,’ First Lady Tells Legion of Fake Followers’

“Today, the First Lady relayed via Twitter that her feed might go sans updates due to the current political stalemate in Congress over the de-funding of Obamacare, a message that came as a shock to her legion of followers, many of whom were revealed last week to be fake.

“Due to Congress’s failure to pass legislation to fund the government, updates to this account will be limited. #Shutdown,” Michelle Obama tweeted earlier today. …”

    • Great….would love to have Moochelle “shutdown forever! What a relief it would be!

    • You shouldn’t be surprised that a temporary staff reduction (shutdown? there’s no shutdown!) would limit the wookiee’s tweets. That is, unless you believe that she’s actually capable of putting together a semi-coherent string of 160 characters (or whatever the limit is; I’m not a Twit myself) all by herself. One or more of her writers may have been furloughed, which reminds me… are Barry’s teleprompter operators considered “essential employees”? By anyone other than himself, that is.

  12. Dollar Bill

Yos, anyone who cares about the Constitution,as you claim to, would recognize that you don’t threaten to inflict economic mayhem, as the present Tea Party monkeyhouse of vandals is now doing, on Americans in order to impose your reactionary agenda. And the Tea Party agenda –it’s a tragedy if a poor person is getting health insurance, It’s a great day when you kick a kid off food stamps!– is supremely unpopular. I wonder why?

    • Is this idiot for real!?

    • AJ

Are you really that ignorant. Apparently so. People will continue to get their Social Security checks and food stamps.

    • Ah , Dollar Bill, you people prefer to wreck the economy slowly, over time. We’re just bringing it to a head.

    • Yos

Er, Anon, exactly where in the Constitution do you find “health care”? I know, I know, it’s in the “Good n’Plenty Clause”, but in my copy I don’t see it. Enlighten us please. Or not.

Perhaps if you had ever read and studied the dang’ thing you’d understand how totally inane your comment is.

Ending the need for the federal food stamp program and moving health care back to the individual States are two items we Teapers are hoping to achieve. I’ll excuse your gross ignorance of what the Tea party movement is about – you’re clearly one of the few remaining readers of the New York Times.

You also make the false identification of Compassion with the public promotion of Dependency. If you’ll excuse me for quoting a moron, “I wonder why?

But you’re right about one thing – I secretly hate kids who are hungry – especially sick kids. Mwuahahahahahaha!!!

      • Libertarian Advocate

“Good n’Plenty Clause” Thanks for that Yos. Dullard Bill certainly thinks that’s what the General Welfare clause really means, but you still had me in stitches with it. 🙂

        • Yos

Dang! So “general welfare” means everyone on welfare? What a deal! (That, or Dullard has grounds to sue his parents for gross neglect.)

  17. Balzac

Dollar Bill and most of the silly media seem to think “tea party” or “teabagger” is some sort of powerful critique that is so obvious it’s self-explanatory, and can substitute for thought and analysis.

Let us help. We tea partiers have looked at the figures which show that the current entitlement state is economically unsustainable. For example, social security cannot, will not be alive in 20 years if it is not radically reformed. The promises made by liberals are unkeep-able. (You might say the science is settled on that point.) Under W, a visit to the Social Security website would promptly bring up an analysis by its head, making these important points. Today, a visit to the SS website under Obama only shows a lot of pleading for more funding, and proud claims of how well the SS administration is doing with *meager* funding. No public education about the massive and impending financial failure.

We teapartiers are actually facing, and trying to reform, this mega-disaster. This is why we say that the liberal tax-borrow-spend addiction must END. Meanwhile, liberals want to punt this challenging task until the adults (Republicans) are again in charge. Are you proud of your head-in-the-sand ostrich strategy? FF? $ Bill? ……Bueller?

    • Inagua

“…social security cannot, will not be alive in 20 years if it is not radically reformed.”

Balzac – I am surprised that someone of your intelligence only considers the option of reform. The other option, favored by our friends on the Left, is to increase taxes. Right now the feds spend roughtly $3.5 trillion a year or about 22% of our $16 trillion economy. Lefties think this is way too low, and they want to it get up to a third, like Europe. As Congressman Keith Ellison so eloquently put it, “There is plenty of money. The government just doesn’t have enough of it.” Yet.

      • Balzac

So true, Inagua. Thanks for reminding me.
The ability of Americans to sustain tax increases is unlimited, is it not?

        • Inagua

I am afraid that we are very far away from any tipping point on the size and scope of government. And then there are the ways the government coerces private money to serve its ends, like Obamaphones, which are paid for by small monthly charges on all phone users. I despair.

Who does Obama think he is, Caligula or Nero? Now the crazy bastard is trying to shut down things the Feds don’t even own.

“Barrycades: Feds Try to Shut Down Privately Owned Mount Vernon’

“Deliberate effort by Obama to hurt the public”

“The National Park Service erected barricades to shut down parking lots surrounding Mount Vernon despite the fact that the tourist destination is privately owned, another example of how the feds are deliberately worsening the government shut down.

Mount Vernon is the former plantation of George Washington and is owned by the Mount Vernon Ladies’ Association, which doesn’t receive any government funding. The attraction’s official website reads, “NO SHUTDOWN HERE – The Federal government may be shut down, but Washington’s home remains open. Mount Vernon has remained a private non-profit for more than 150 years.”

However, a dispute began when the National Park Service began putting up barricades to block off the facility’s car park, blockading the entrance as well as a spot where tour buses turn around. …”

    • Peg

AJ – actions like these are superb examples of what this president really wants to do. He is not acting in the best interests of the American people. If he were, he would have instructed everyone to do their best to keep ESSENTIAL SERVICES and popular services going – and cut the rest. That he is stopping POPULAR monuments and parks from being open when closing them actually costs MORE than the former, and that he is making a show of “closing” institutions and places that literally are not run nor owned by our government demonstrates that this is political theater for Obama.

Frankly, much of his governing is that. How a man can get in front of the American people and claim that policies are saving us money when they are doing the opposite, that health insurance IS going down under Obamacare when there is widespread evidence that it is going up, and so on and so forth, is further proof of this.

Of course, what continues to amaze me is how people like DB and my idiot leftie uncle cannot see anything at all that The One has done that isn’t fine and uplifting and marvelous.

‘Continued shutdown, paralyzed politicians reveal just how close the U.S. government is to total collapse’

“Anyone looking for evidence of the impending total failure of the U.S. government need look no further than the shenanigans taking place right now in Washington D.C.

    To summarize:

    • As the nation hurtles toward an inevitable debt collapse, the Obama administration insists the answer is to pile on more debt by raising the debt ceiling. Anyone who disagrees with this is being characterized an “anarchist.”

    • Unless the debt ceiling is raised, the U.S. Treasury will default on hundreds of billions of dollars in debt obligations in less than a month. Such a default would absolutely wreck the credit worthiness of the USA, causing the future debt burden to start wildly multiplying in a runaway mathematical blowout that can only end in financial collapse.

    • Obamacare, a broken system of coerced, unconstitutional health insurance mandates, is already causing widespread economic disaster across the country as tens of millions of people are losing their jobs, having their hours cut, or seeing their company-sponsored health plans cancelled. But the socialist philosophy of Obamacare is so central to the political left that they are viciously defending it at all costs. If Obamacare fails, the socialist fantasies of the left go down the drain with it, and they can’t let that happen… not even if it means medically bankrupting millions of Americans thanks to the outrageously high costs of health insurance everyone is now forced to buy.

    • As political leverage in all this, the federal government is supposedly “shut down,” but the IRS is still collecting money, the TSA is still groping travelers at the airport, and billions of dollars in government waste is still accruing each week. To make the shut down appear worse, the Obama administration erected tall barriers around World War II veterans’ memorials, desperately attempting to dramatize the shut down while blaming the Republicans. (This also shows the utter disrespect for American veterans who fought for the very freedoms Obama seems to enjoy destroying at every opportunity.)

    • The mainstream media, ever the pathetic defenders of failed “hope and change” rhetoric, is still running interference for the Obama administration, pretending that all this is the fault of Republicans and that somehow Democrats had no part in any of it. The very idea that Republicans might want to negotiate a mutual agreement rather than bowing down to the destructive wrath of Obamacare is heavily and repeatedly criticized by the media. How dare you want to negotiate! Peasants don’t negotiate with kings! They bow down and kiss feet!

You are watching the slow-motion collapse of the U.S. government
What you are witnessing here is the utter failure of the U.S. federal government — a failure that may portend an even more sobering failure soon to come.

This is a government that has:

    • Run out of money
    • Run out of credibility
    • Run out of ideas
    • Run out of trust from the People
    • Run out of excuses for its utter abandonment of law, justice and the will of the People

Maybe it’s time that We the People ran them all out of Washington, eh? It’s certainly clear to the American people at this point that virtually no one in Washington represents their interests anymore… the exceptions being a very small number of stoic defenders of fundamental freedom like Rand Paul and Ted Cruz. For their efforts to stand firm against the government steamrolling the entire economy into oblivion, they are being called “anarchists” by Sen. Majority Leader Harry Reid, an all-out wretched apologist ….”
